Good WordPress Desktop Blogging Programs for OS X?

Hi there,

I am looking for a good program that will let me make WordPress posts from my desktop (OS X). I’ve seen some various programs for Windows, but am having a harder time finding good programs for Mac. Are there any ones you would recommend? Thank you!

David

Ecto is the most famous / popular.

The MarsEdit developer participates in WordPress development, and seems to be gaining popularity.

ScribeFire (formerly Performancing) is a Firefox extension.

Flock is a web browser (which I used to work on) that has an integrated blog editor.

I have questions about web servers?

Is it possible to add feaures/addons on to a server? (cPanel, Fanstactico, Word Press, Forum, etc)

Does Microsoft IIS (Internet Information Server) and Apache let you host a untaken web domain, like
http://google.com/ or http://owisrhgiuhsriughdriuhgriugrgsuh.com/ ?

Is there a version of cPanel that’s free?

Is it possible to to make iMac/Mac into a server?

Is it possbile to make a website which people can visit by a server?

Is Microsoft IIS and Apache free?

How do you install Microsoft IIS and Apache?

How do you add applations like cPanel, WordPress, etc?

Is there a way to get a website editor, designer, maker?

Thanks,
Sorry about that

Is it possible to add a website editor on your server?

When you have a server does it host a domain like google.com? And can people visit the domain?
Its not a private server.

There’s a lot of stuff here. Really you need to read a good book on the subject sicne you can’t really expect in depth answers to some of the questions here. Even web server installation on its own is highly open -ended – it depends on the server, your operating system and how you want it configured.

To run through your questions briefly, most web servers allow add-ons of some description. The precise options you have vary from server to server. Some have plug in interfaces whereas others you are limited to CGI scripts. cPanel is proprietary but if you are running your own server you don’t want it anyway – it is more effort to install and configure it than it is to make your changes manually. cPanel is appropriate for commercial providers who want to support a large number of customers easily but not for a private server you are running yourself.

Yes, any Mac will function just fine as a web server with appropriate software loaded.

Apache is free. IIS is included with certain versions of Windows.

You should refer to the documentation for installation since there are _far_ too many variables to go through here. Ditto adding applications.

Your questions “Is it possbile to make a website which people can visit by a server?” and “Is there a way to get a website editor, designer, maker?” do not make any sense and are far too vague to even attempt answers. Read up about this for yourself. Asking such open ended questions indicates you haven’t done this.
