WordPress Backgrounds

How to make wordpress.COM blog background fixed?

I want my blog background to be fixed and not scroll with the rest of the site. How do I do it? My blog is ringling9.wordpress.com

For the body tag example:

body {
width: XXpx;
height: YYpx;
margin: 0 auto;
background: #fff url(image_name.jpg) no-repeat center fixed;
}

That’s an example.

WordPress Blog Design

February 22nd, 2011 admin No comments

So you are ready to get started with your blog, but you have no idea how you can find a decent blogging theme for your website? First, you’ve got to decide whether you want to use WordPress on your site. Since most superbloggers are doing it already, you may as well save yourself some time and jump on the bandwagon. In reality, there are hundreds of free and paid designs available for this platform, so you can’t go wrong by going with WP as the backbone for your Weblog.

Once you have chosen your platform, you need to look for a design that gives your blog the best chance to succeed in the long-term. Not all templates are created the same. So you need to do your due diligence to find one that gives you the best chance to better communicate with your visitors.

Here is the list of features you need to look for in a top blogging theme:

  • Design: you need a site that is not only attractive and easy to use but also save your readers time too.
  • Flexibility: once you buy a product for your Weblog, you need to customize it to make your website look unique. Make sure you buy a WP-theme that helps you do that easily.
  • SEO: make sure you pay extra attention to the code and buy a script that is SEO-friendly and enables you to get ranked high on search engines.
  • Accessibility & Usability: similar to the first point, you want to make sure elements on your Weblog are placed where your readers expect them to be.
  • Multiple Layouts: a top template allows you to change things around from the back-end and customize the look-and-feel easily.
  • Cross-browser Compatibility: not everyone uses Internet Explorer or Firefox. The ideal WordPress theme is compatible with all top browsers.
  • Lifetime Updates: Thesis comes with lifetime updates. That means you won’t have to spend a time to get your hands on updates done to this theme.
  • Support: life-time support is quickly becoming the norm in the web-design industry. Make sure you get it with your purchase.
  • Affordable: you don’t want to break your budget all in one shot. So don’t go over your budget for a fancy product that may not be worth it in the first place.

There you have it. Choosing a template for your blog is not as easy as it looks. Think long-term and take into account scalability, security, and flexibility before making your decision.

Still not sure about your next blogging theme?

Thesis is the top WordPress theme used by super-bloggers around the world. The theme is cheap, highly customizable, and SEO-friendly. A perfect design for all bloggers.

WordPress Themes Video Games

December 6th, 2010 admin No comments

Which blog site should I use? Blogger vs. WordPress And what should I include in said blog?

So, I’ve heard it depends on what kind of blog you are going to create. I want to create a blog, but it’s going to be kind of random, no select theme. I’m interested in a lit of things, you know? Like video games, political interests, theology/atheism, sci-fi, fantasy(like books and television), dealing with my eating disorder, I’m kind of a foodie, I’m really into my studies, I am very much into biology, anthropology and astrophysics as well… see, there are so many things.
First of all, what could I include in my blog? Is it good that my interests are so diverse? And should I use Blogger or WordPress, judging by my interests?
Sorry, I’m a blogging noob.
oops, second sentence at the end, I meant *lot

It’s the best to write on what you’re passionate about.

These are some of the most popular free blogging platforms:
1. Posterous http://posterous.com/
2. Tumblr http://www.tumblr.com/
3. Blogger http://www.blogger.com
4. WordPress http://www.wordpress.com

Just choose one which you like the most.

If you want to create a real website like www.yourwebsite.com you need to get paid hosting and a domain name like one of these: http://www.tophostingpicks.com

iPage has the best offer right now.
Their standard price is $84/year ($6.95) but they have
a 50% sale, one year of hosting for $42.00.
(a free domain name like yourwebsite.com is included)

They also include a free point & click online site builder so you can create a website without any programming (easily, just by drag and drop) or you could install WordPress (they include easy, one click install from their control panel), choose a theme that you like, and start adding content.

They also have a great custom control panel with OneClick installs of all the popular software like WordPress, Joomla, Forums, Chat, Galleries, Online stores and a lot more.

WordPress Logo In Header

November 11th, 2010 admin No comments

WordPress Image in header file…?

I am having an issue allowing my image to appear in the header. When it comes to word press, what is the html code to insert the image? I am using img src…but should I use the folder then the file name? like images/logo.jpg? Please any ideas….

If you’re replacing the image in an existing WordPress theme, the easiest thing to do is to open up the theme editor, find the reference to the image in the stylesheet template and replace the filename therein. For instance, in the fSpring theme, the image is called top.png; you’d replace that with whatever your file is called – or rename your file top.png and upload it to the theme folder.

If you’re creating a header from scratch, img src should work, but you will need the complete path (like /wp-images/logo.jpg).
